Aspen Summer Festivals You Don’t Want to Miss
Winters in Aspen tend to advertise themselves, especially among the ski crowd. However, with lovely warm temperatures, breathtakingly beautiful scenery, and clean, crisp mountain air, Aspen was practically designed for entertaining in the summer months.
One of the most popular and beloved branches of Aspen’s summer entertainment scene is its many diverse and engaging festivals. From music to film to performance theatre and beyond, there are so many spectacular and inspiring festivals that are hosted in Aspen every summer.
We’re letting you in on Aspen’s best-kept secrets, here are some of our favorite summer festivals in Aspen.
Belly Up Aspen
Belly Up Aspen is one of Aspen’s largest, most cherished music clubs and regularly hosts world-renowned artists from across the globe in its astounding 450-capacity indoor music venue. Since its opening in January of 2005, Belly Up Aspen has been one of the city’s go-to venues for live music, and in 2021, they’re planning on making this summer one to remember.
While following strict COVID-19 safety guidelines, Belly Up Aspen is ready to welcome back crowds at full capacity — and, most notably, without face masks or social distancing requirements.

Aspen Film: Summer of Cinema
Since its foundation in 1979, Aspen Film’s slogan “Independent By Nature” has been true on many levels. The local Aspen-based film organization has sought to champion independent films and filmmakers by hosting their quality work at large public premieres and screenings often in settings surrounded by nature.
This summer, the annual tradition that is Aspen Film: Summer of Cinema will be doing no different. Get tickets to see some of your favorite all-time classics during Movie Night at Anderson Ranch’s retro-inspired drive-in theatre. Or, grab the young ones and head over to the plush lawn at Snowmass Base Village to watch some family-favorite films at dawn on Saturday evenings during Movies Under The Stars this summer 2021.
Snowmass Village is good for a lot more than just screenings and skiing. Read about what it’s like to live in Snowmass Village here!

Founded in 1949, the AMFS has grown to become nationally recognized as one of the top classical music festivals in the country. Now some 70 years on, this summer’s Aspen Music Festival promises to be just as exciting as any.
This years’ eight-week summer classical music festival features concerts and music events performed by artists from across the United States and beyond, ranging from full-on orchestras to solo and chamber music performances, and even fully-staged opera productions.
