Things to Do in Aspen in Summer

“I came for the winter, but stayed for the summer”! For those who know the beauty of the warmer months in Aspen, this phrase makes perfect sense. Summer in Aspen is a special time in the alpine community. With mild, dry temperatures which can reach into the low 80s in the day and 60s at night, this is the perfect time to enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities and so many great things to do.

Here are the best things to do in Aspen this summer:

Outdoor Experiences in Aspen

From family vacations to a romantic get-away, Aspen in the summer offers something for everyone. Hiking, biking, rafting, fishing and exploring are just a few of the ways to enjoy this special community. A gondola ride on the Silver Queen will whisk you high above the valley affording sweeping views of Aspen Mountain. Once on the top, take in the scenery or enjoy a select mountain top yoga class, try the 18-hole disc golf course, listen to live music or have lunch on the patio at the Sundeck Restaurant.

Shopping & Markets in Aspen

For those more interested in retail therapy, Aspen does not disappoint. Although the downtown is relatively compact, there are still over 200 shops to choose from. From consignment shops to designer brands and boutiques, stroll in the scenic location and pick up some treasures to remember your trip. From mid-June to mid-October, Aspen hosts a Farmer’s Market. Open from 8:30 am to 3 pm, Saturday mornings, the market is filled with local Colorado produce, crafts and food treats. Enjoy the live music and stay for a bite to eat at the food court.

Food & Drink in Aspen

A foodie’s paradise, Aspen hosts the ultimate food and wine experience each summer with the Food and Wine Classic. An internationally recognized event, this year the Classic takes place from June 15 to June 17. Another fun event for music lovers is the JAS June which follows from June 22 to June 30.

Aspen may be known for its great winter activities, but as temperatures rise, the mountain replaces the winter white with colorful wildflowers. Some see what summer in Aspen has to offer and fall in love with it all over again.
